An accord of narcotic flowers, dominated by ylang and jasmine, conveys a sense of the beauty of nightlife, especially in its most intellectual and feverish dimension. Their opulence is superimposed by a pungent mineral facet, designed to evoke that particular feeling of eye fatigue that comes when the body demands sleep, but the mind still refuses to give up. The brightness of the flowers is then dramatically obscured by an accord of deep woods, which creates a sharp contrast between light and shadow and gives the composition a darker, nocturnal and introspective dimension.
The animal character, a recurring element in my creations, emerges through indole, used in a subtle dose. It does not want to dominate the accord, but to give it a carnal, almost corporeal quality, capable of making the flowers more alive, more ambiguous and sensual, adding to their beauty a deeply intoxicating and seductive character.
